IRC - Darkmyst Channel

So with discussions and arguments getting wilder in the Cbox, the idea came to form a free channel on IRC. A chatroom in which we can discuss matters.

First the rules.
No cussing. No racist, sexist, or any other type of "ist" remarks.

Debates about things on the forum are going to be allowed. However, if things get out of hand, the channel OPs (staff) can and will ask for those involved in the debate to take it to another channel on the IRC server. Especially if it is disrupting the normal chatroom talk.

The server used is Darkmyst, which is home to numerous gaming channels.

Here is the connection information. If you don't know what IRC is or how to use it, a guide will be provided soon.

In this page, you can enter your nickname in the chat box, and use the IRC window in order to chat with us.

Download it, install it, basic stuff for any program.

You'll be asked to enter a name and an alternative, pick whatever you want. After that, it'll ask you for channel info. That's where you enter the following:

Server: irc.darkmyst.org
Port: 6667

Channel: #Dynasty-Rebirth

Once you connect to the channel, you should use /nick (Insert chosen nickname here with - instead of space. Ex: Gan-Ning) to either use your screenname or your characters name

Once you're set that way, at the top there's a button called Favourites. My suggestion is deleting all the pre-selected ones then clicking it again and selecting Add Favourite. You can set it to auto-join or not.

Very, very basic guide but it'll get you started. Now for something a little trickier.

To register your nickname of choice (Again, I'd suggest it be your character name unless you're like Lexi or I who go by our given names almost as much) you're going to have to input some commands. Progress, right?

So, first things first. Making a final decision on your nickname. You can use others but registering them all is, honestly, wasteful. Once you do type /nickserv register <password> <email>. What this does is it registers the current nickname to your email with whatever your password is. Once you've done this, you pretty much own that nickname. Anyone using it who isn't registered to it, you can kick em. One warning: If you don't use it for 30 days, you lose the registration and anyone can register it.

I'm going to add to this as I go, simply because I havn't used IRC in-depth in almost a decade. I've got to re familiarize myself as well.
