Now Ren had never really been to any major battles besides when she had helped her father deal with a band of pirates who were tormenting the local fisherman, and disturbing the peace. Even then it was more of a stay back and watch kind of deal; she even had the chance to hone her skills with her bow by killing unsuspecting pirates who were too busy fighting her father to notice a teenage girl picking them off one by one. Sure she was far enough away and protected that none of them could get to her if they tried.
That was the first time she had ever killed anyone, at first she was unsure of how to handle the fact that she had sent someone to there next life. Her emotions were still developing so to speak so even though she knew killing them was the right thing to do why did she feel so crappy about it. She knew that one day she would have to kill as she was her father’s daughter, but she had always used her bow so she had never had to get up close to anyone that she had killed. your
The battle itself might have been half a year or so ago, but it was the battle that pretty much turned Ren into the master archer that she is to this day. She never stopped honing her skills, encase she had to follow her father and brothers into battle once again. But for the most part, things had been quiet which had allowed her to do what she wanted which was training with her bow. Of course, she had a teacher but she was at the point where she did not need one anymore.
Currently she was training around the back of the Royal residence which was pretty much her families palace. The royal family had their own part of the palace that was closed off to anyone without invite beside the royal family. Now the rumors about her having maids dressed in full Armour were not rumors where ever she was she had a couple of them standing guard and keeping unwanted visitors away from her and threats.
Ren had been training for a couple of hours now she had a couple of pots of water on hand as training took a lot out of her. After all, she wanted to be just like her brothers Quan and Ce. But in order for that, she had to train daily and stay on top of her ranged attacks, after all, she could even be better than Ce in terms of shooting a bow. Not that she would ever admit that to him. But she loved both her brothers and would never say or do anything to upset or make them sad.

She had wasted a couple of shots as every now and again she would miss a shot and the said arrow would end up broken or lost. But her current shot was posed to hit the center of the target just as she was about to fire she heard a sound and without knowing fired the shot the only issue was it missed the target and headed towards the entrance to the garden. as the target was hanging from a tree that blocked the entrance. " Miss fire!"  is all she could yell, as the sound that she had heard came from the same direction as the arrow she had missed fired.

His lord had asked him to help train his sister in case war would break out and both know his sister wouldn't back down from the battlefield no matter what, eager to prove herself to her brother and father as she was no defenseless little girl anymore. Although he preferred something with a little bit more action such as guard duty, he wasn't going to disappoint his lord who gave him this task as he believed every task was important and he would never say no to his lord for his lord was the one who gave him purpose in his life and he refused to disappoint his lord.

Sun Quan had told him his rebellious little sister was in the court yard training with the bow and decided quickly not to waste any time and began his way to Sun Ren. He traveled throughout the halls which was surprisingly busy today which he thought was odd. The castle was not often this busy unless something major was going to happen, of course it was far above his concern as he was a simple warrior and nothing else. He was destined to die on the battlefield one day and wouldn't have it any other way for he had fulfilled his duty and his honour would lay intact. 

As he was about to enter the royal when at the last moment at the edge of his eye caught a projectile coming straight for him. Without hesitation gripped Dusk and at the right moment drew the blade and by using a technique he learned from his sword master, he cut the arrow down splitting it in two. The two pieces flew only centimeters from his head yet Zhou Tai laid unfazed, unmoving. "That was close" he said to himself quietly before he looking in Sun Ren's direction only to see her bow in hand. He sighed for a moment before walking over and approaching the princess of Wu before being stopped by two of Sun Ren's Qíshì maids


"Move aside, I have business with the fair lady of Wu. My Lord Sun Quan has sent me to her to prepare her" Zhou Tai said in a cold demeanor staring at both. Both the maid looked at each before moving out of his way, knowing better then to question Lord Quan's lords. With no one in his path anymore, he took his right hand off Dusk's grip and once more approached Sun Ren who looked a bit confused. He crossed his arms for a minute before speaking his mind although she could probably guess some reason why he was here.

"My Lord, your brother Sun Quan has sent me here to teach you the ways of war and have your bow strike true. I shall be your teacher and opponent today Lady Ren....Prepare yourself!"

[Sachi]

Anywhere else in the world this scene would look quite out of place indeed. Here was the daughter of a powerful lord, sister to his successor training in the martial arts. What was perhaps even more strange was that no one even thought to object or be surprised be scenes like this anymore. Instead everyone in the lands of Jiang Dong simply understood, 'that was just how Lady Ren was'. In fact Sachi was pretty sure that when she had been down in the market just yesterday buying provisions that she had heard several of the towns young women refer to Lady Ren as a 'tomboy princess'. Again when used for almost any other noble lady that would be considered an insult however...In Sachi's mind it was just about right for someone like Lady Sun Ren. She spent more time running around and training with weapons than most of her brothers warriors did and by this stage Sachi was quite used to her charges odd behavior. In fact it was not unusual for her to be dragged up by her lady to be used as sparing practice. Despite her short almost diminutive appearance and otherwise harmlessly cute looks she was in fact generally acknowledge as the best fighter among her ladies maids, not that you would think it too look at her. Then again the smart people in this world understood that appearances could be deceptive. So it was that when Zhou Tai arrived Sachi was just a little bit relieved, she would now escape sparing practice herself...probably, maybe, she hoped.

Sachi was presently sitting down on a bench near by as Zhou Tai entered brushing asides Sun Ren's well armed maids who knew better than to block entry to one of Sun Quan's retainers. Unlike most of them she was not dressed for combat just at the moment, still wearing her maid overalls instead. Although she had her armor with her just in case, she liked to be well prepared, that was a personal rule of her's. Naturally she made no effort to stop Zhou Tai as he headed over to speak to Lady Ren. Asking...no more telling her that they would be sparing today. It seemed Zhou Tai had at least one thing in common with Sachi, they both took their duties very seriously.

"Ooh dear." Sachi whispered as she realized the two of them were probably about to spare off against one another. She started to get out some bandages from a pack she carried at her waist. Lady Ren might think it a little negative of her maid to already be reaching for a medial kit however...Sachi knew her lady quite well at this point she took her training pretty seriously. To the point many of her brothers officers were actually afraid of her. Sachi was pretty sure by the time this was over someone would be needing her to patch them up. In the mean time she decided to sip some tea and cheer her lady on to inevitable victory....probably. "Do you're best my lady." She yelled enthusiastically as the Sachi one girl cheering section got going.

Throughout her life, Ren had never hurt or killed anyone that she was not supposed to. Sure back when she was learning how to use her bow she might have shot the odd arrow into someone; but they were never ever kill shots as back then she could not aim for shit. But over the years her aim had approved to the point where she could hit just about anything; that she wanted to hit or was aiming for. But the more she trained the better she got, and people where right to fear her. for if she saw you first the chances of avoding her arrow would be slim to none. unless you could adapt to her attacks.

Now she knew most of the officers closest to her brother, Quan, down to the fact that she had been around them just as much as she had her brothers and fathers. She did however feel that some of them felt like they were babysitting her when in fact she was more than capable of looking after herself. But she was the only daughter of Sun Jian so her father made sure that she was. But her maids where more then able to keep herself within and outside of the palace, its why she takes them everywhere with her.

She had no idea that she had almost hit one of her father's most trusted officers. She did not know much about Tai other than that he was one of her brother’s closest generals. But the fact that she only attended meetings if her brother was unable to attend, or if a member of Royal family needed to be to present for whatever reason. Again her maids always came with her no matter where she when or where ever she stayed

When she saw Tai walk into view all she could do was shut her eyes and pray to god that he was able to deflect the arrow or somehow avoid it. If she did hit him she would feel terrible and no doubt get shouted at for shooting one of her own forces officers. Seconds later when she reopened them she could see that he was unharmed. A part of her was glad that she avoided hurting someone who was useful to her brother and her family. “I’m so sorry, but you should have announced yourself and not just appeared like some phantom. What if I would have hurt you i would feel terrible."

She simply turned to look at Sachi, she was a little bit of wildcard but Ren saw a little of herself within her. Sure she was not one of Rens closest but her other maids had been with her since she was a child. But Sachi was close enough to her that she trusted her as she did her other maids. "My Lord, your brother Sun Quan has sent me here to teach you the ways of war and have your bow strike true. I shall be your teacher and opponent today Lady"

She sighed as she looked over to Tai. “Tell my dear brother that I don’t need you to be my babysitter or to train me. The only reason I missed you was the fact that I was not aiming for you. But I have been training for most of the morning so instead of challenging me to a fight would you care to join me for some tea.” She simply looked over to Sachi with a smile as she was in earshot of her.

Sachi could you go and fetch me and my guest some food and drink. I believe farther brought home a deer and said I could have first pick before Quan and Ce decide to eat it all. Also use the tea set that mother had made for me.” She then looked back to Tai as she handed her bow to one of her other maids. “So what do you say. Join the Princess for some lunch or return to my brother.” Is not like he could refuse an order from Ren, well he could but she was still a princess of Wu and heir to the throne after her brothers.

He stared at Sun Ren, blinking awkwardly, a bit surprised by her words despite the fact he knew she was this. "Announce himself?" he thought to himself, why would he have to be so formal? He took his duties very seriously but Sun Quan ran Wu and treated his trusted officers as his own family. Zhou Tai was often scolded for acting so professional in front of his lord which he considered a problem although Zhou Tai never really tried until today.....guess he never try that again....The Beard King wouldn't be happy....oh well. Sun Ren had put on a serious face and looked back at him,

 “Tell my dear brother that I don’t need you to be my babysitter or to train me. The only reason I missed you was the fact that I was not aiming for you. But I have been training for most of the morning so instead of challenging me to a fight would you care to join me for some tea.” Zhou Tai was a bit speechless, babysitter? He was the skilled warrior within all Wu and was the bodyguard of the great lord Sun Quan himself, how could he be degraded to a simple babysitter for children. Surely she was too young to understand the nature of war for she was a simple child in the disguise of a young adult. War was not a game as thousands relied on you and there's death's are your responsibility, the blood, the destruction and death was not something a child could handle without  falling to it, only those trained will be able to survive in war and he firmly believed she was not ready but it was not in his place to say so. He simply followed his lord's orders. He wish she would eventually take this more seriously eventually. He continued to watch in silence as Sun Ren whispered into Sachi ear over something. He couldn't make out much, only something about tea? Sachi quickly ran off, wasting no time to do what she was told. Sun Ren then looked back at him as Sachi ran off

“So what do you say. Join the Princess for some lunch or return to my brother.” 

The fabled Sword of Wu raised his left eyebrow before sighing and letting out a deep breath. He could ignore an order from Sun Ren for she was the princess and even though he probably could ignore the order and wouldn't be punished by his lord as he was ordered to be her. It just be better to do what was asked of him then look like a royal ass in front of the princess even if she holded no true power in the court yet. He Finally he took a seat across the table awkwardly of course as he always have for Zhou Tai was not much a social person but everyone knew of this within Court. He was not someone who enjoyed court for the battlefield was his home. After so much silence while sitting, Zhou Tai finally spoke to the princess

"It is not in my place to speak to a princess but as a warrior to a warrior, I am sincere when I say arrogance and Pride can be your downfall. To be a perfect warrior, you must not give in to emotions......never underestimate your enemy or overestimate your abilities."

Zhou Tai then bow his head in silence, apologizing if he angered the princess. He meant no respect to the princess but simply wished to speak to her as a warrior to another warrior.

[Sachi]

It seemed that whatever Zhou Tai had in mind was just not going to fly, he might be a general and probably one of Sun Quan’s most trusted friends but Lady Ren was his sister. As well as a very wilful young woman who didn’t take orders from anybody. It seems she would not just be pushed into training against her will. What had Zhou Tai been expecting really showing up with an attitude like that, perhaps he just didn’t know how to talk to women, 0r at least Lady Ren. Zhou Tai would have done better if he offered to train with her instead of making it sound like an order. Speaking of orders, Sachi perked up immediately as Lady Ren called out to her.

It seemed Lady Ren was thinking of having a meal with the general, not a bad idea after having spent much of the morning training. Everyone needed a break every once in a while, even the southlands tomboy princess. Although Sachi thought she detected just a trace on embarrassment on the generals face as he was more or less pushed into accepting. Sachi smiled as she stood happily accepting her lady’s orders. “Of course, at once Lady Ren.” She said speaking polity as she always did. Sachi pulled up the hem of her dress an inch as she curtseyed formally before leaving, ever the perfect model of a maid. Before she turned and headed directly off toward the kitchen in order to carry out the orders she had been assigned.

The kitchen staff of course knew Sachi quite well at this point, she often found herself coming down here to prepare Lady Ren’s meals for her as well as for most of the other maids as well. After all she would be heading down here to do it anyway right, why not help them out a little as well. It certainly had helped with her popularity in the group. Even if it did mean extra work got pushed her way. On arriving Sachi said a quick hello to the staff before setting about arranging for the deer Lady Ren had requested to be brought out. Having sorted out the details she headed off towards Lady Ren’s room where the tea set in question was kept, it was after all not the sort of thing any normal servant would be trusted with. Carrying it with extreme care Sachi locked up Ren’s room before heading back down to the Kitchen to start brewing the tea.

One might think this normal behavior, a servant who cared for her mistress just carrying out her duties as normal. Yet in Sachi’s case things were not quite as they appeared on the surface. She was indeed a kind hearted girl who enjoyed helping others but there was a lot more to it than just that. Everyone of Lady Ren’s maid’s knew that Sachi’s devotion to Lady Ren was a little extraordinary, she had in fact never refused any of her ladies requests. Not once, no matter how silly the request. This devotion went to the level where it could be described as an obsessive compulsive complex. And the real reason why was a certain tragedy that had occurred many years before. The true reason behinds Sachi’s strange devotion to her duties was this painful secret buried deep in her past and unknown even to Lady Ren herself. They say if something is too good to be true it probably is. But maybe this might be better at least she didn't have those terrible nightmares anymore.

Ren had no interest in politics she was more than happy to leave that side of things to her brothers and father. Sure she kept informed of what was going on at what was said in the countless council sessions that she did not attend, after all, she would help her brothers in any way she could. But the fact of the matter was Ren knew that one day she might have to Rule Wu and that thought terrified her. But war has a habit of taking those you love from you and she was terrified that she would lose her father or worse her entire family.

She might not let other know but family meant the world to her, sure she did not hold any power in court at this moment in time. And she really did want any she wanted to avoid politics for as long as she was able; after all, someone has to remain alive in order to carry on the family name encase something happens to her father and brothers. The other person she cared for was her mother; she had been a huge part of Rens childhood and she always made sure to visit her each day if only for a couple of hours.

Now most of her brother’s officers had some kind of war training just as she had done. But she was fed up off everyone treating her like a child, sure she was young but she had just as much right to fight as anyone did. It’s not like she’s asking anyone to put their life’s at risk to save her If she died she could die knowing that she had not forced someone to come and save her or even condemn them to die with her. Sure she was terrified of death, but she was the daughter of Sun Jian and would face her death as any of her brothers would.

She simply just nodded to Tai as she watched him take a seat across from her. Anyone could tell that he felt out of place as this was not a battlefield, and she was not someone that he had to kill. But maybe just maybe Ren can bring out a side of Tai that he never knew he had. If anything he kind of reminded her of her father, when she was child Jian use to spend time with her pretending to be at her tea parties that she would hold for her friends which was the children of noble lords who were part of the court.

“You can speak freely General. If I wanted to stand on ceremony I would have asked you bow. I know you mean well and just because I act like I don’t care does not mean I don’t take your advice. I welcome it as you say Warrior to Warrior.” He could speak freely when it was just the two of them as anyone could. But outside of this courtyard, she was a Royal Princess and that is a role she took to heart.

The two sat while waiting patiently for Sachi to return, could she possibility be taking her time? or was she trying to be a perfectionist in the grand scheme of things? Zhou Tai sat awkwardly in his chair, somewhat uncomfortable sitting with a woman. Zhou Tai never had much interaction with women and while he could talk to one like a man, he always felt out of place, especially if it was a social gathering or even a date? He was the master of war, he could kill any in his path, surely a woman couldn't conquer him? his training never covered speaking to women.....

Ren decided to the first one to speak, seeing Zhou Tai slightly uncomfortable in his current situation

“You look out of your element General. You have to enjoy moments such as this. You know as well as me as come dawn we could be at war with anyone, after all this region is well known and sort after you must be aware of this correct.” She simply paused as she looked around the last time she had drank with anyone was her family and close friends on her eighteenth birthday.

The point she spoke those words, the word "peace" came to his mind. He often heard that word often come up in court as he would stand near his lord many times in silence. Everyone wished for peace though it could never obtained without war as no kingdom would work together towards this goal. Zhou Tai rarely thought of such things as it was something far above him as his was a soldier, not a ruler. He believed if everyone worked together and friendly then there would be no point picking up a sword once more. Zhou Tai stared at Dusk's hilt for a mere moment after leaving his trains of thoughts and looked back at Sun Ren

"This is Peace? There can never by any true peace, peace is an illusion, There is only War and I shall be where the fighting is thickest if my lord so demands it."

Zhou Tai changed from being slightly uncomfortable to being on dead serious for the next few minutes. I don't think he saw himself doing this, especially in front of Sun Ren. Zhou Tai knew war was coming soon, he didn't when but he knew it in his blood and he was ready, it had been far too long since he fought in any true battle since he routed a rebel army last year during a revolt. War was the only thing he knew and felt only at home on the battlefield. Maybe he was a monster who could only function by spilling the blood of the weak but at least he was a disciplined and tamed monster with a purpose as he constantly thought to himself on his nature. He was a warrior and would die like any true warrior does.

"I have leaned many things from my masters, The Wolf of Amne Machin and The Dragon Slayer of the land of the East. The fate of all true warriors is to die in battle, there is no greater honor then to die for your lord or die fighting defending what you believe."

This was most likely the first time he had spoken this much in quite a long time.

[Sachi]

After meticulously brewing the tea as per her ladies instructions Sachi returned to the courtyard carrying a tray laden down with choice cuts of venison as well as the tea she had been asked to prepare. She had been gone a little while but as Zhou Tai had guessed she was something of a perfectionist when it came to her duties. She would not give anything but her best effort due to her OCD tendencies. Having returned she headed over to the small table where Lady Ren and the captain were seated. Just in time to catch some of their conversation, it seemed like Zhou Tai was trying to give her lady another boring lecture about the military life...or war and peace. These lectures tended to all be rather the same when it came to the military type of men, or at least that had been Sachi's experience. They all thought they knew best although in some cases it only seemed to be an excuse for them to show off. At this point she found herself wondering if the only real reason their could never be this 'true peace' the captain spoke of was because men like him existed in the first place. Just the thoughts of this young girl of course and she was not rude enough offer her opinion on her own initiative. So innocently Sachi walked over setting down the tray she had been carrying atop the small table her face betraying none of her real thoughts.

"As you requested my lady." Sachi said happily as she bobbed her pink head, probably fishing for some words of thanks, her ladies appreciation was after all one of the things that kept her going. As she started to serve setting down a cut of venison before Lady Ren and Zhou Tai whose exact military rank she had forgotten at this point. Before she set out the tea set, handing lady Ren her usual cup. However when it came to Zhou Tai's turn she blushed just a little bit before handing him a cup that was distinctively 'Pink' in fact it was the one she herself usually used when lady Ren occasionally wanted to have tea together. She had probably picked it up by mistake instead of one of the others...probably. "Ah apologies my lord how thoughtless of me, i didn't consider what color cup i was fetching until just this moment. I hope you can forgive me." Sachi apologized as she started to pour tea into Zhou Tai's pink cup. It was rather hard to tell from her expression whether she had done this on purpose just to tease him for acting like a bore or if this had been an honest mistake on her part.

It was not every day that she drank tea with her father’s officers, most of the time it was just her and her maids and the odd noble now and again. But even she grew tired of simply sitting around drinking tea and the likes, it’s one of the reasons she quite often goes out for hours on end and worries her family to death. Truth me to told she was not at risk as most of the regions loved and adored her the same as they did her family. Plus her maids saw to it that she was always protected

This was supposed to be fun afternoon, not a place to talk about war, even if she did bring up the subject herself. “That’s one thing I don’t understand how can you always talk about war when we have this moment in time to relax and just forget for one day how terrible the world can be.

As you requested my lady.” She smiled as she heard the voice of her maid, she was always so polite on time and she could fight when she was asked or required to. “Thank you, Sachi." Now she trusted most of her maids but Sachi was special she reminded Ren of herself when she was a child. But she had no idea how this day would end, maybe she would have taught Tai something about how to talk to girls or at least get him interested in them.

Zhou Tai wasn't surprised by the princess's answer although he wasn't sure if she could throw him off his guard in the traditional sense however Sun Ren was never considered normal, even by her parents although Zhou Tai and everyone else that knew her would agree she didn't wish to be like all the other women....speaking of women when when the last time he had spent time with a woman? with his mother twenty something years ago before he left home? He didn't know what to think of women, sure they were different by there well things on there chest. For a man that could of had most women, the thought of doing anything non-professional to a woman never came across him mind. To him, men and women were the one of the same for the most part yet for some reason he felt uncomfortable around them, especially among the strong and witty.

Zhou Tai guessed he disappointed the Wu princess of there conversation. I guess she was expecting a fun afternoon with him. He wondered the word "fun" in his mind, what was that? I mean he knew you enjoyed doing something but he had always done something to prepare him or to help his lord and if he enjoyed that, that was his "supposed fun". The only thing he could of think of that could possibly be "fun" would be sparring or crafting a new Kai Ma Dao his master tought to him many years ago. he guess he could try her "fun" if she ordered him to do so, whats the worse that could possibly happen? 

Seeing her disappointment in him, he lowered his head for a moment before looking at her with a sincere face

"please forgive princess..........I am.....not used to......such formalities.....or social gatherings.....especially with women. War........its the only thing I know and puts me at ease........It was not something I wanted.......but If I didn't your brother Quan would of died...................there I go again...........please forgive me princess"

Just as he was apologizing to Sun Ren, he saw Sachi approach the two and smiled at them, completing her lady's orders to the letter and quickly as well. He didn't know her at all but he could tell the two were slimier at least taking there duties very seriously. Zhou Tai watched Sachi closely as she poured tea into a tea cup for her lady and gave it to her with her flawless hands. She then quickly turned around only to turn around once more to have her face all red, apprently blushing at Zhou Tai. Zhou Tai was caught completely off guard this time and move slightly back into his chair with the expression on his face a clear give away. She then holded up a pink cup of tea for him.......WAIT "A PINK CUP?" he thought to himself, he was completely froze up for a few moments before he reached for the pink cup only to stare at for another few seconds without any complaint, in complete silence. He wasn't sure what threw him off, the woman or the tea cup....there was no going back now though.

When he looked back up as Sachi apologized, Zhou Tai slightly blushed himself whether embarrassed or having those wierd feeling's once more, what it ever was, he hoped it go away although he had feeling these two would do something otherwise. She then poured some tea into his cup with Zhou Tai taking a sip out of it and enjoying it. He made a remark to himself slightly out loud just enough for someone else to hear "maybe alcohol in this would..?" Zhou Tai once again and looked at Sachi's face, specifically her eyes with a warming demeanor

"It is.......alright Lady Sachi..........colors dont make the man..............please give this cup from now on when I.......spend tea time......with the princess...........Lady Sachi why dont......you uh join us.....more company.......the better.....uh right Lady Ren?"

It would be fair to say that Sachi was intelligent, in fact she was more than intelligent at least from an academic perspective, she was the sort of girl who would due to her hard working nature ace every test a teacher would set for her. However, for someone so bright she was sadly lacking in the common sense department. In fact, it would be fair to describe Sachi as something of an ‘air head’ she was the type of person who often missed other people’s jokes and things that should be considered obvious. It was one of the reasons it was best to careful when you asked Sachi to do something. For example, she had once been asked to go and buy some ‘fresh fruit’ from Jing province and instead of doing the sensible thing and buying the produce at the market in town, she had ended up walking all the way to Chang Sha to buy fruit instead. Because she had been told to make sure it was ‘fresh’, she did take her duties very seriously but not always with very much common sense.

So it was that she probably should have picked up on a few things from Zhou Tai’s reaction, in fact most girls would have and yet…no Sachi was totally oblivious. She did however nod forcefully when Zhou Tai asked her to serve him using the same ‘pink’ cup in future, taking his reaction to mean that he probably enjoyed the pink things in life. “Yes certainly my lord.” Sachi said acknowledging the order in the same serious way she always did. This was all normal to her. what he said next however took her more off guard. She didn’t think she had heard properly at first when Zhou Tai said.

“Lady Sachi why dont......you uh join us.....more company.......the better.....uh right Lady Ren?"

“Uhh...uhh…umm.” Sachi said stuttering in a way that could only be described as ‘cute’ as she processed this, given how he has asked it clearly was not an order, so it was her choice then. Which only made it more difficult for her, not only was it embarrassing to be asked to sit with her lady and an important military officer, she was not used to making choices for herself either. Her cheeks turned from their natural light shade to pink although not so bright as her hair, as she thought things over for a moment. Before she finally spoke in a quiet little voice. “Umm I don’t dislike the idea.” Sachi said which might seem rather unenthusiastic but by her nature Sachi almost never asked for anything or expressed want for something. The reason for which was again closely linked with her past…she must not be a selfish girl it was a rule she had to follow.

“As long as Lady Ren is content with my presence here?” Sachi asked her lady for permission as she bowed deeply. This however had an ulterior meaning too it, as she bowed low she slipped her left hand down below the table. Dropping a small glass bottle down on the floor next to Zhou Tai’s feet, so that only he and her would have noticed. It was marked with the Chinese character for ‘alcohol’ apparently Sachi liked to be well prepared. Given Zhou Tai’s gender she had taken pre-emptive action on this front and had apparently overheard his quite words.

No more, that was the last issue needing to be addressed by Sun Quan himself. The Kingdom of Wu has grown immensely in such a short period of time that there is an unending list of issues that demanded the attention of him and his Ministers greatly. Both his father and brother have stepped down from their roles as King of Wu to leave these matters to him while the two of them work to stabilize our Kingdom. If anything held this nation together it would be the strong bonds we have with our family and our retainers. But the work was heavy nonetheless, thankfully what calmed him down was all he had to do was stroke his beard. And Sun Quan did just that as he rose from the throne. "Ah, what a wonderful feeling!" Quan exclaimed which partially startled the attendants in court, but sighed as they remembered their lord's fondness of his beard.

Leaving his court Quan went to wandering the halls of the palace. What was on his mind was if Zhou Tai had met with his little sister yet. He had given his loyal Beard Protector an order the previous day to help prepare her for combat. Although in all honestly she was probably just as trained as himself, even better perhaps. But he knew his adorable little sister, that if the Kingdom of Wu entered open conflict with another Kingdom where Wu superiority isn't assured. That she will insist on being there. And that is why he wished Zhou Tai who had seen many battles to show his sister Ren a fight for her life. He wouldn't be able to protect her if she were to lead from the front as a Warrior General. In a fight against a foe that they may not be able to overwhelm. A fight where her flank couldn't be protected wherein an enemy smashes into her back lines where no soldier is to stand in front of her for her to safely let loose her arrows.

These fears plagued him and to duel with a man who can close the distance and counter her arrows with sheer martial art ability with the sword. It would be an invaluable experience he thought. So why not as he is free to check on their progress. Pleased with his thoughtfulness Quan continued to stroke his beard, and improved his mood by leaps and bounds. "Nothing really like it." he said in a quiet, but elated tone.

Nearing his destination Quan was surprised he wasn't hearing intense sounds of combat yet. His most trusted bodyguard and Ren should be training still. Rounding the corner to the Sun family's private courtyard where they also conducted training. Passing by Ren's personal retinue who had done nothing to impede his path Quan saw something that was very strange to him. His loyal retainer for one not doing what he had asked of him. But also his most loyal retainer sitting down with his sister carefully drinking tea from a pink tea cup while slightly blushing. This is the same man who could have a straight face all throughout a night of drinking. Quan was taken aback a bit and paused his approach from the entrance of the courtyard. Quan was thinking that the peculiar pink haired maid Sachi his sister had employed, and his most changed retainer Zhou Tai were in their own world at the moment. Never would he think the man could let down his guard, but apparently it's possible. He must make a mental note that Zhou Tai may be weak to women. Further testing on that hypothesis will be required. Regaining a bit of his senses Sun Quan approached after hearing the maid ask if she could be seated as well "Good afternoon dearest sister, Sachi, and...Zhou Tai?" Quan still couldn't quite believe what he was seeing as he ended his greeting to his retainer with a bit of a questioning tone. It was both amusing and enlightening, but he was calm and ready for by now Quan was already stroking his beard and a smile appeared on his face.

Silence. It could truly be a golden thing. Alone, Liang strode through the halls, finished with his meeting with the bearded king of the east. Lord Quan had mentioned his sister at practice and Liang took this as an excellent opportunity to make the acquaintance of Lady Ren. He had heard stories of this girl bearing the blood of the tiger. If even half were true, she was as vicious as a tiger. Liang considered this for a moment, a soft smile gracing his lips.

At his heels strode an impassive guard, one of the trusted members of the Sun family elite, no doubt. At various intersections Liang would pause, allowing the guard to direct him further into the estate and towards where Lady Ren was thought to be.

Growing up he had known numerous women, and few could be said to match that spirit. Most of the men he had known were put off by such strong characteristics, rather they preferred their women to be docile and meek. Liang had always disliked this approach by the rough peasants. Instead preferring a woman capable of standing up for herself and her beliefs. He was intrigued from the outset by the stories of Lady Ren, and had mentioned as such to her brother.

Lord Quan had no objections to a meeting between the two, so now he strode the halls. Inwardly thoughts filled his mind like a torrent of rushing water. Not the least of which was the purpose of this meeting, which bespoke of trouble within the Han, and an uprising being set into motion. This greatly disturbed the Lord of Shu, for if rumor were true in this matter, it bespoke an undercurrent of rebellion among the common people. Yet still, like a slender flower petal Lady Ren slid through this torrent, cutting across as sharply as a well-honed blade.

Normally he would be accompanied by a bodyguard, perhaps two. Simply as a matter of appearances, of course. Yet for today he had dismissed them to see the sights of Jianye. The fact that they were also here to gather information from the local commoners was also a ripple of current in his mind. More than anything, the young ruler of Shu felt the need to understand what was going on among the people. In Chengdu, he could have ventured out alone and spoken with them at leisure. Yet he was afraid that here, in the depths of Wu, such commoners might be too afraid to speak their heart to him.

A light stirring moved his soul, caressing through him with a shiver of anxiety. A nearby window beckoned and Liang moved to it, halting his steady stride to gaze out over the landscape. He could feel it inside him still, a palpable sense of things moving and shifting. As if the future were set to realign itself to an as yet unconfirmed pattern. Some grand design seemed to be in play before his eyes, changing what was, what will be. One hand slid up to lightly caress at his beard.

Only a moment passed, yet Liang was moving again, once more headed to his fateful meeting with the Princess of Wu. His mind had ever been a facile one and the new stream of thoughts regarding the future was added to the swollen river that flowed steadily onward. His robes whispered with every step, a delicate rustle of fabric that filled the silence with a steady rhythm. The hems stay comfortably several inches above the floor. Though in this part of the residence, the floor was immaculately clean.

A thought fluttered through, gone as quickly as it came, of Lady Ren's maids. Liang smiled in spite of himself, thinking of his own bodyguards. Gan Jiang would surely be in the middle of the market, talking shop with another blacksmith, or else purchasing new metals to be taken on the road back to Shu. When not in direct service, the man never stopped in his forging of new weapons. This thought left a dark stain upon Liang's mind, as what he knew of Jiang's history came to the surface. Yet there was nothing he could do about it, other than to allow the man his freedom, and the intense fires of the forge to burn the demons from his soul.

As the doorway came into view, so to did Ren's formidable looking maids. Both eyed him curiously and he bowed politely to them, speaking softly so as not to disturb those in the garden.

"My ladies, I have come for an audience with Lady Ren, if she will permit me the honor. Lord Quan has given his permission as well."

The maids seemed uncertain as Liang simply stood there, patient and silent. An idle thought that they might turn him away crossed his mind, amusing as it was. Not that he was arrogant enough to believe that they should bow down to him. For all they knew, he might be a spy or assassin, come to harm their lady. It would be interesting to see how these ladies handled themselves.

The guard that had accompanied him remained behind him, leaving Liang unaware of any looks he might have passed to the maids. He thought now only of the meeting ahead with Lady Ren, and the gift he had prepared for her.

Now Ren was kind of planning for this meeting with Tai to be uneventful, but going on how busy the area around them where it was only a matter of time until they had more company. Now Ren has made the mistake of training in a public courtyard; whereas if she was in her own private part courtyard it would be her and her maids and only immediate family. She was not afraid of being killed even she needed a place of peace and quiet and no one ever used it besides her

Now Ren loved meeting new people and expanding what she knows about others and other parts of the world, but she was Wu girl at heart and so she had never really left her home region she wants to but she really has no idea where to or what to do. After all, she was Princess so it’s not like she could just walk out of the castle without anyone noticing, but maybe she could just as her father if he would allow her to explore outside of Jian Ye. She had her maids so she was not worried about Security as no doubt Quan would insist that she takes some soldiers with her.

"please forgive princess..........I am.....not used to......such formalities.....or social gatherings.....especially with women. War........its the only thing I know and puts me at ease........It was not something I wanted.......but If I didn't your brother Quan would have died...................there I go again...........please forgive me princess" she was not expecting Tai to come out with that It had shocked her somewhat. “Well consider this a window into how the other half live so to speak, sure you were born to war but just fighting for the hell of it is no life. You need to learn to be more social."

“As long as Lady Ren is content with my presence here?” Now Ren wanted to say yes to Sac, but she could not. After all, she was one of her maids and the others were not getting the same treatment so why should see. “I need you to remain on your feet encase we have more guests; your sisters do not get special treatment so I don’t see the need for you too.” Ren was not being mean but Sac was one of her maids and would be treated as such.

Just as she was about to say something she turned to notice her brother had somehow appeared out of thin air, it was not the first time that Quan had just appeared he was terrible for being there one moment and then gone the next. She had no idea why he was here, as both of them had agreed to meet later tonight to talk about family matters. She smiled and nodded to her brother. “Well met Brother. But thought we not meeting until tonight.”

Just then she could saw someone else out of the corner of her eye. She knew for the fact that he was not from here and was not a part of Wu, they were not expecting any visits from other regions where they. She simply looked to over to the maids who has stopped the stranger and nodded to them to allow him in but to make him hand over any kind of weapon’s he might have on show on hidden. It was only Wu officers that she trusted with weapon’s around her, and who would be stupid enough to attack a princess in her own castle. " Well looks like we going to need some more tea."

"the other half of living? Like sachi or the princess?" Zhou Tai muttered to himself after Sun Ren's response. She was normal in comparison, still not normal at all but to him at least she was normal compared to him. Zhou Tai never really thought of why he was so anti social or the silent type. Perhaps he never saw a point in showing expression , perhaps it was sight of weakness for a warrior. Zhou Tai continued to drink his hot tea in his little "pink" tea cup Sachi gave to him and tried his hardest thoroughly tasting the tea for it's qualities and characteristics. "hmm needs alcohol for more flavor" he muttered to himself. He then looked down towards the floor to see a bottle of alcohol that Sachi brought for him. She must of really done her homework or just knew how he and his lord could be at times when alcohol was thrown in the acquisition. She would surely get "points for bringing what he loved but he knew this wasn't the place to do it, especially the princess. After tasting his Tea, he holded the cup in mid air ready to take another sip, he threw a stare back at Sachi who was still standing near the table after her lady had told she could not join them. He chuckled a little and smiled at her long enough for her to get the message.

"Clever Girl" he muttered just loud enough for Sachi to hear. What she would do with this would be completely up to her. Zhou Tai took another sip out of his now favorite "pink" tea cup before holding it again in mid air, ready to take another sip.

"Princess I have.......taken a liking to.........Lady Sachi..........She is........different from the rest........perhaps you could let her........have tea with us as a favor.......to me.........besides you did.......say I need more......training.....socializing.......with women?"


Zhou Tai was about to take another sip out of his pink tea cup when he heard a too familer voice.....he turned around to see his lord, the Bearded King he often called himself, Sun Quan. As Sun Ren and Sun Quan both exchanged the introductions, without hesitation but also without thinking, he dropped his favorite "pink" tea cup and immediately rushed to his lord kneeing to him on one leg as he was expecting to be punished for not following his lord's orders, instead having tea with the princess. Of course the only sane thing he did was grab the alcohol bottle Sachi basically gave to him. He grabbed when no one was looking and hidden it with his cloak.

"My Lord Sun Quan.....I have not done as your ordered.....I have failed you as you most loyal officer and warrior......I will accept any punishment......I have no excuses, I will do anything you say........I will leave in exile embarrassed and shamed to challenging the Princess in single combat will all my power at my disposal as you originally ordered me to if you so wish my Lord"

Before anyone could say anything though, his right arm grabbed the alcohol bottle from underneath his cloak and holded it up to his lord.

"My lord please accept this pitiful gift as a sign of me failing your exceptions my lord"

Zhou Tai waited for his punishment, ever so curious what he would recieve, death?, exiled from the land? He guessed he return to the land of Himiko to find his old master once more, perhaps it would something be far worse but what could be worse then exile or death?

It was with relatively kind words that Lady Ren refused Sachi’s request, if you could call it that given her rather passive phrasing of ‘I don’t dislike the idea’. Lady Ren was probably concerned about more guests arriving, which she would very soon be proven right about. What she said afterwards however cut quite deeply.

“Your sisters do not get special treatment so I don’t see the need for you too."

Sachi’s mouth dropped and she began to tremble ever so slightly, not enough that it was really obvious but anyone with a sharp eye would catch it. Sachi realized her thoughtless words had been in terrible error, for just a moment she had acted selfishly, instead of trying to be of use to others she had been thinking of herself. In other words she had been a selfish girl, a selfish girl was a bad girl and she must never be a bad girl again. Sachi began to tremble even harder as if she were silently punishing herself as beads of sweat broke out across her tiny forehead. She didn't even notice when Zhou Tai dropped the pink tea cup, which belonged to Lady Ren's mother. She was oblivious to everything else for that moment, then just as suddenly it was over she regained control of her motor functions. Acting like nothing unusual had happened.

“Ahh…I’m so very sorry my lady, I was being awfully selfish. Please you should really punish me later.” Sachi said in a tone of voice that left no doubt she was being dead serious about that. She didn’t seem to quite understand that this broken rule of her’s would not be considered ‘punishment’ worthy to most other people. But before Sachi could say anything else on the matter the ruler of the land of Wu and her father Lord Kazuki’s superior Lord Sun Quan entered the courtyard, probably to see his little sister. Either that he had come too emasculate Zhou Tai even further.

Sachi gasped quietly, quite surprised honestly that Lord Quan even knew her name, although her father was the governor of Lu Kou perhaps that was why…either that or had Lady Ren spoken well of her. Sachi secretly wanted that to be so, she thrived on the praise of others and had all her life, even as a child. Just being petted on the head and told ‘good job Sachi’ had been enough to make her smile. It was why when Zhou Tai had called her a ‘clever girl’ a few moments before she had smiled just a little bit, even though she was still quite shaken up by what Lady Ren had said.

"Well looks like we going to need some more tea." Lady Ren Said snapping Sachi out of her surprise at Lord Quan’s arrival with a new request. In Sachi’s action dictionary, there are only 3 words “receive” – “confirm” – “execute”. So she went right to work.

“Yes I understand milady.” Sachi responded immediately as with the precise movements of a skilled maid she pulled out a seat for Lord Quan before hurrying of to see about getting her lord his own tea cup and of course the food she had been ordered to serve previously. But before she left to attend that she noticed another man who seemed to be waiting to enter the courtyard, currently being blocked by two of Lady Ren’s other maids. It was a man she recognized instantly. As for the second time in as many minutes a cute little startled sound emerged from her throat. That man was none other than Kongming.

How did this maid know him by sight, that was a long story? The short version was her parents had been planning to send her to be tutored by Zhuge’s father Zhuge Gui a renowned scholar himself, had…past tense. That was many years ago when Sachi had been a child, a prodigy in her own right at the time, before the incident. After that…such a dream became an impossibly. But even so Sachi had been curious and on her own found out something of Master Sleeping Dragon, he had quite the reputation. Also looking at him in person, he was quite the handsome man as well. Sachi walked over as Kongming announced that he had been invited.

The two maids blocking him were called Jia and Meilin, although they all worked for lady Ren they were not exactly…friends to Sachi. Both tended to go out of their way to push work onto Sachi, often saying things like ‘Sachi finish my cleaning’ or ‘Sachi clean my armour’ in a bossy tone. It was also the way they looked at her, their eyes were cold. It was possible they were simply jealous of her relationship with Lady Ren as they did some times accuse her of ‘sucking up to her’, because of how attentive she was to her duties. So when they spotted Sachi headed over they decided to dump their problem onto Sachi once again, letting her deal with Kongming in their place, apparently deciding he might be troublesome. “Take care of this would you Sachin.” Jia said using a pet name she had come up with, probably not to be kind to Sachi either. With a nod of her pink head Sachi accepted moving over to ask Kongming.

“My lord if Sun Quan has given you permission please follow me; also if you don’t mine me asking what sort of tea would you prefer me to serve you today?” Sachi inquired polity as she bowed respectfully. Her face was calm but her heart was actually beating quite fast, so many important people were arriving she felt a little bit flustered frankly and she had not recovered yet from what Lady Ren had said to her, or at least what it had nearly triggered.

“Well met Brother. But thought we not meeting until tonight.”

Was true he and his sister were going to discuss some family mattera later in the day. Though he came here early to check on her progress. He also knew Zhuge Liang would be showing up, and he certainly wanted to know what the man from the west wanted to do with his sister.

As he was about to explain he was cut off by a duo. Which mildly annoyed him. His retainer Zhou Tai had kneeled before him and offered him alcohol to appease him. And the uniquely pink haired maid Sachi excusing herself to fetch more tea. This mildly annoyed him, as the maid didn't even ask him what he would like. Though understanding as he had his retainer kneeling in front of him. Stroking his beard Quan seriously considered a punishment that would amuse him greatly. His spine tingled by both the feel of his beard, and thinking of a nice punishment. He was sure that his sister had done something to result in this so he couldn't outright punish his bodyguard for going at his sister's whims and pace.

"Zhou Tai your actions have failed my expectations to think my most loyal bodyguard, would be easily swayed by my sister to ignore my orders. Ah where did your Lord go wrong to have lost the respect of his men. This pains me so Zhou Tai. If you truly wish to show your loyalty to me. You must stare intensely at Zhuge Liang who will soon be joining us. Never to avert your eyes from him. To allow them to wander to the lovely women that occupy this place would be unforgivable."

Within his heart and mind Quan was amused, though he dare not show it upon his face. If Zhuge Liang wanted to get to his sister for some shady reason. He would have to go through both her brother, and face the stare down of Zhou Tai his loyal Beard Protector.

Quan stroked his beard once more and spoke. "Your Lord does not mind sharing the alcohol with you, but also think that it may be a detriment to your ability to focus on the mission I have given you." Turning away from Zhou Tai, Quan faced his little sister. "I only wish to spend some time with my dear sister. We will still talk after this. But in the meantime why don't I enjoy this day with you all." Quan smiled as he stroked his beard again, another tingle shot down his spine. There truly is nothing like this feeling. With that Quan stepped around Zhou Tai and looked towards the entrance where Zhuge Liang was stopped at. Before he sat down he wished to greet the man.

Liang could not fail to notice the way the other maids treated Sachi. Yet she handled it with amazing grace. He offered her a courteous bow and smile.

"My lady Sachin, I would be honored to place my trust in your expertise in the matters of serving. I am quite sure that anything you would deem serve me would be of the utmost quality."

That being said, Liang reached into his robes and produced a small silk bundle. This he offered to Sachi and spoke softly for her ears alone.

"I have this gift for your lady. I would ask that you present it to her on my behalf. I would not have her be nervous in my presence."

A soft smile and he stepped into the light of the courtyard, noting the presence of Zhou Tai and Sun Quan as well. Stepping forward before Lady Ren, he bowed deeply to her first of all.

"Lady Ren, I beg pardon for the intrusion. I had hoped we could meet before my departure from these lands. I hope that it is not an imposition upon you."

As he straightened he kept his gaze upon her, allowing her the time for a reply, before he turned to bow his head again, another low bow to Sun Quan, and then a lesser one for Zhou Tai.

"Lord Quan, if I had known you were headed here I would have gladly accompanied you. You should be proud of your household. It was a pleasure walking through the halls."

Giving Quan his time to reply, Liang turned once more to Lady Ren.

"Forgive me, but I have taken the liberty of a small gift. I had it made before my journey here. I delivered it to your maid. I am sure you trust her more than you would me, at this point in time. It hardly seemed fitting for me to then draw a weapon in your presence, even were it to be a gift for you."

With this, Liang straightened once more. His eyes rapidly took in the scene of the courtyard, and what looked to be a tea party in progress. Whether Ren wished him to leave or stay was in her hands, all he could do was stand here and wait patiently for her next words to come. After the quick flick of his eyes to survey the terrain, he politely kept them fixed upon her.

Yet even then he made note of the fact that Zhou Tai's eyes bore into him. As if they could read into the depths of his soul. Perhaps Quan was not so trusting of the Eastern lord. It was a cunning move to arrange Zhou Tai's presence here. With the maids nearby, and Zhou Tai and Quan both present, it would be a foolish man indeed to attempt some rash action.

Which was absurd in it's own right, Liang thought to himself. His only desire at being here was a meeting. Ren knew a little about the other kingdoms and regions that dotted china. After all, she quite often got to look at her brother’s maps, and even plan trips with her father every now and again. She looked over towards the Stanger with the funny hat as she spoke to her, who was she to turn away someone who wanted to meet her.
