How-To Guide: New Mini-Profiles

You may have noticed the Mini-Profiles look entirely different now. It's taken some editing, but I have them ready to roll out for normal usage. This guide is to tell you how to set things up.

First, go to Edit Profile for your account.

In Edit Profile, you will generally start on the Avatar Tab. This avatar should be at least 150x150. If you upload an image, Proboards resizes it to that. If you are using a link, the avatar should shrink down to size automatically. If not, contact me via PM. This avatar goes UNDER your hover image in a post.

After you set your Avatar, click on the Personal Tab. This is where you have a bit more editing to do.

Scroll down until you see the field "MP3 Link". Here is where you will begin.

MP3 Link: As I understand it, this is a direct link to an MP3. That members can click to play from your Mini-Profile. It can be used as character music. But use with caution. If it becomes a problem, I will edit this part out.

Hover Image: This is the big one. Without a direct link here, you will see the default image. (This will be updated soon with a Dynasty Rebirth logo. The Hover Image must be at least 200x300 in dimensions. Larger than that is fine, but keep in mind it will be shrunk down to fit. So try to keep the dimensions as multiples of those two numbers. (400x600, 600x900, 800x1200, and so on) This will help to make sure there is no messing up of your image.

Background Group: Leave this blank. It's a function of the layout.

Character Information
For these areas, it is information from your accepted profile. Age, Gender, and Class should be fairly obvious.

Kingdom Rank: This is the decision of your ruler, so don't simply put General or Chief Commander here. For the simple fact that you may not be those things if your ruler doesn't want you to be.

Relationship Status and Partner: These two are linked together. You select your current status in the Dropdown. Celibate is a function for monks/nuns/etc, who swore an oath not to get married or engage in sexual intercourse. Widowed means you were Married, but your partner died. After you select this field, it is time to enter who your Partner is. Simply type their character name. Then in your Mini-Profile, when you hover the Mouse Cursor over your status field, the name of your Partner will be displayed.

Relationship Status and Partner are optional fields. You can simply select None of the Above and leave Partner blank if you wish.

Bodyguard Link 1 and Bodyguard Link 2: In these fields, you place a link to your Bodyguard Profiles. This can be one if you only use one bodyguard, or two if you use two.

Profile Link: This links to your accepted profile, after it has been moved to the correct storage board. It is so others can quickly find your profile and read up on you.

Journal Link: This is a link to be used for the Journals board. It is a place for your character diary to be written. (Remember, unless you specifically state it, all Journal info is to be kept OOC. It is for entertainment
purposes only.)

To use these links, look under Character Information on your Mini-Profile. There is a dropdown in the lower right corner. Click it and it opens to reveal the available links. Select one and your page will jump to that board. Please note, this is NOT a new Tab. It will open these links in your current page. This is currently unavoidable.

You will also, at the time of this posting, see Alter Hover 1. This is something I am working on for the Alters plugin, which I am still in the process of getting setup. Primarily, if I can script it, Alter Hover 1 will be the Hover Image for your first Alter character. So you can alter the image as necessary. It has no function whatsoever at this point in time.

One last thing I will point out, as it may not be obvious to all. Clicking Member Information will slide the profile up, revealing your Post Count and Likes. More information may be available here, in the future, such as Member Gender.

You may then click Character Information to slide back down to the default view.
